About the Music

The Viet Nam war has been called “the first rock ‘n’ roll war.” With that in mind, these songs were written and produced to convey aspects of that war’s effect upon those who fought there. The use of ‘60s instruments, recording techniques, and music styles intentionally captures the era, giving a musical voice to Viet Nam veterans, and their families, everywhere. All songs are copyright 1991 and 2005, published 1991 by Marc C. Waszkiewicz and Lea Jones.

Marc C. Waszkiewicz created this project and is the co-writer/ co-producer of these songs. He has a Master’s Degree in Music Composition, has worked in Hollywood for the television and motion picture industry, and earned numerous awards in his field. He served in Viet Nam from 1967 through 1969, voluntarily extending his tour two additional times, before being wounded and sent home. His proudest assignment was as the Artillery Forward Observer for Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in ’68 and ’69. Today he lives in the Seattle area with his three teenaged children.

Lea Jones is the voice on these songs and, along with Marc, is the co-writer/ co-producer. Having made a name for himself in the greater Oregon area as a songwriter and singer, he has achieved success and recognition for his abilities. Today he lives in the Baltimore area with his wife and son where he continues to have a politically active voice in the music field.
